The style of your belt is generally determined by the buckle or buckle set you intend to use on your belt - please make sure the buckle or buckle set you want fits with the width and features of the belt you choose.
The Cowboy Style maintains the same width the whole length of the belt. Standard width is 1 1/2", but we offer this style in 1" - 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" - 1 3/4" - 2".

The Tapered Style is available in several configurations:
1" width in main body tapered down to 3/4" at buckle
1 1/4" width in main body tapered down to 1" or 3/4" at buckle
1 1/2" width in main body tapered down to 1" or 3/4" at buckle
The Tapered style uses a narrower buckle while still maintaining the width of the belt. There is a taper on both ends of the belt to accommodate the lesser width of the buckle. Ranger buckle sets work well with the tapered style and generally come in a three piece set - buckle, keeper and tip. Ranger buckle sets available through us start at 3/4 " width and 1" width - the width, of course is the size of the opening that the belt slides through.
The Rancher style (tapered) is a full 1 3/4" width, then tapered down to 1 1/2" at the buckle.
The extra width provides two things: first, it allows for more tooling area so the patterns are usually fuller and more striking.
Second, the width of the leather is a bit stronger which handles heavy, everyday use better.
These work out good for bigger men, working men, and hunters who carry tools and holsters on their belt fairly often. We neck them down at the buckle so most standard buckles will fit them.
*** Before you order this style, please check your pant loops to make sure they will handle the 1 3/4" width.
Old West - Ranger style originates with the Texas Rangers (or old gun fighter style of a gun belt) with the main body over-lapping itself at the buckle and leather strips (billets) added on the face of the overlap for the buckle attachment and adjustment.
The main body of the Ranger style can be ordered in 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" widths

Please also be aware that our floral tooling patterns are only offered for belts with a width of 1 1/4" or greater. If your buckle set is smaller than 1 1/4" no worries! We can taper the belt down to fit your set.
